Science Fair Cancelled After Sophomore Accidentally Builds Weather Machine
This year’s Memorial High science fair was abruptly canceled after sophomore Rami D.’s project, originally titled “Static Electricity and You,” unexpectedly triggered a localized hailstorm inside the gymnasium. No one was injured, though Coach Dan is reportedly still coughing up sleet.
“I thought I was just making my hair stand up,” said Rami. “Then the lights flickered, the gym got really cold, and someone’s shoelaces froze together.” Other exhibits included a lemon-powered lamp, a paper mache volcano, and a hamster-operated blender. None of them caused meteorological anomalies, though the volcano did demand a lawyer.
The device–now referred to as the Storm Snack 3000–appears to harness “teen angst, Mountain Dew, and electromagnetic guilt” to generate weather events. Rami has since been approached by NASA, the Coast Guard, and three rival high schools hoping to rent his invention for game-day fog effects.
Principal Harris issued a temporary ban on “accidental godhood,” and all future science fairs must now be reviewed by a panel of climate experts, a barista, and someone’s uncle with a CB radio.
The gym remains closed due to “light drizzle and metaphysical uncertainty.”
