Rivalry Week Prank Sees Baseball Team Paint Field Pink
In a bold–and florescent–move for Rivalry Week, Memorial High’s baseball team secretly coated the visiting dugout, foul lines, and even the home-plate dirt in washable pink dye at dawn Tuesday. The prank, allegedly sanctioned by the team captain’s “pink pact,” caught the Eastview Eagles off guard, turning their pre-game warm-ups into a rosy spectacle.
Coach Ramirez, initially horrified by the cotton-candy diamond, conceded it “distracted the opponents enough to earn two strikeouts before the first inning.” Photographs of pink cleat tracks and bleacher splatters went viral under #MaverickPinkOut, prompting rival schools to start stocking pastel paint cans at athletic supply stores.
Eastview’s coach filed a formal “Color Diplomacy Complaint,” but both administrations eventually laughed it off–especially after pink-themed concessions (flavored pink lemonade and strawberry nachos) sold out at the snack bar. The prank is now legendary, and next year’s Rivalry Week committee is rumored to be planning a “Tie-Dye Turf Tango.”
Whether pink fields become a tradition or a one-off masterpiece, the Mavericks proved that sometimes, the best way to color your opponents beaten is to coat the field in uncompromising pastel.
