Parking Lot Yoga Classes Replace Traffic School
With parking misbehavior on the rise, Memorial High’s administration decided to trade traditional traffic tickets for a more flexible approach: “Parking Lot Yoga.” Each unauthorized parker must spend fifteen minutes in a guided downward dog session in the faculty lot before reclaiming their vehicle.
Assistant Principal Torres, who spearheaded the program, explained: “If you can’t handle parking tickets, maybe you need to handle your hamstrings.” Students report that public yoga amid idling buses and honking horns is humbling–if not slightly absurd.
One junior, caught in a “crosshatched box” zone, quipped, “My chakras have been realigned and so has my vehicle–380 feet closer to the exit.” The PE Department provides mats and gentle reminders to “inhale exhale and move your car.”
While some parkers embraced their inner zen, others outsourced their tickets by swapping spots: “I paid my yoga dues with my neighbor’s permission,” admitted a repentant sophomore under his third savasana breath.
Early results: a 27% drop in illegal parking and a 100% increase in tight hamstrings. Principal Harris declares it “the most peaceful parking enforcement we’ve ever tried.” Namaste and move your car.
