Promposals Now Require Faculty Approval Via Google Form
After a series of elaborate–and hallway-blocking–prom proposals, Memorial High has instituted a new policy: every student must submit a “Promposal Request” Google Form at least one week in advance, detailing location, theme, and potential faculty chaperone involvement.
The form includes fields for estimated crowd size, sound permits (for surprise flash mobs), and a waiver for potential glitter hazards. One student’s promposal asking for “a llama and a mariachi band” was denied for “logistical impracticality”–though the llama enthusiast vowed an appeal.
Guidance counselor Mrs. Keane praised the form’s built-in “Impact Assessment” questions, helping students weigh romance against disruption. The Student Council’s “Promposal Review Committee” meets every Tuesday to approve or suggest modifications.
Rejections now come with constructive feedback, like “Consider a stationary poster instead of a roaming BCHS-size banner.” Approved promposals receive a “Chaperone Co-Sign” stamp and faculty assistance in crowd control.
Though some call it overregulation of teenage joy, most agree the form prevents runaway chickens in the hallways–proving that even matters of the heart sometimes need bureaucratic paperwork.
