Homecoming Theme Changed Last-Minute To “Apocalypse Enchanted” Due To Typo
A misplaced keystroke in a student council group chat has transformed Memorial High’s original homecoming theme, “Enchanted Evening,” into “Apocalypse Enchanted,” unleashing a dystopian fairy tale fever dream upon the school gymnasium.
Instead of pastel lights and fake ivy, decorations now include crumbling castle backdrops, fog machines set to “ominous,” and a playlist featuring EDM remixes of doomsday sirens. “We leaned into it,” said event chairperson Kylie R. “The enchanted forest is dying, and it’s fabulous.”
The punch is labeled “Potion of Inevitable Regret,” the photo booth features fake gas masks and glittery battle axes, and the official dress code encourages “ball gowns or battle armor–whichever matches your trauma.”
One chaperone described the vibe as “Disney princess meets Mad Max.” Another refused to comment, still shaking glitter out of his shoes and muttering, “There were wolves. With tiaras.”
Despite the chaos, attendance has reached an all-time high. “This is the most emotionally honest dance theme we’ve ever had,” said sophomore Mason P., slow-dancing with a cardboard cutout of a ruined kingdom.
Principal Harris, dressed as a post-apocalyptic bard, stated, “We may not have intended it, but we discovered something beautiful in the breakdown.”
