Student Council Accidentally Declares War On Local Middle School
Memorial High’s student council meant to send a sternly worded email to Jefferson Middle School about stolen mascot costume parts. Instead, they accidentally issued what can only be interpreted as a formal declaration of war.
“The subject line was Prepare Yourselves,'” said student body president Maddie K. “In hindsight, maybe the phrase total annihilation by spirit stick’ was a bit much.” The message included a list of demands, including return of the Maverick’s tail, exclusive rights to the term “pep,” and unrestricted access to the Jefferson vending machines.
Jefferson Middle, a school known for its overachieving 8th grade debate team, responded by launching a counter-email titled “Bring It, Seniors.” The response included historical grievances, maps of the football field, and several unsettling GIFs of marching penguins.
The situation escalated when both schools began mobilizing their marching bands. Witnesses claim the drumlines exchanged coded rhythms during a parking lot standoff, and one freshman attempted to sneak across enemy lines disguised as a substitute teacher.
Principal Harris has called for immediate de-escalation talks, offering neutral ground in the form of the multipurpose room and free churros. The school board has yet to comment, but several members have reportedly taken sides based on alma mater allegiance.
Meanwhile, students at both schools are treating the conflict as a promotional campaign. “It’s not a war,” said Memorial senior Ian B., “it’s brand building with medieval undertones.”
War or not, the Maverick mascot has been returned–now dressed in Jefferson colors and reportedly whispering cryptic riddles about hallway sovereignty.
